What is a target audience?

The target audience for a particular company/brand includes all individuals and groups of people who affect the company’s business directly and indirectly. They include the consumers, the ‘influencers’ (people who influence other people to opt for a product or service), the media, the employees, the shareholders, regulatory bodies and others. Shaping the opinion and influencing the behavior of this target audience is the raison-d’être of a public relations agency.
