Khaadi wins ‘Retail Brand of the Year’ award at the HUM Style Awards 2018

Karachi -September 03, 2018: Khaadi, Pakistan’s premier fashion retail brand, won the prestigious “Retail Brand of the year Award” at this year’s HUM STYLE AWARDS 2018, held at an evening of glamour and style at Karachi’s Expo Centre.

 EISA Recognizes LG’s Artificial Intelligence and Product Innovation

Karachi / SEOUL, September 03, 2018 — LG Electronics’ (LG) innovations in AI technology and design have earned the company recognition from the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA). LG’s AI ThinQ-enabled products including LG OLED TV, LG SUPER UHD TV and LG XBOOM were honored for their high competitiveness in categories assessing premium picture quality, artificial intelligence performance and sound excellence.

The LG OLED TV AI ThinQ (model OLED65E8) was named the EISA PREMIUM OLED TV 2018-2019, marking this the seventh consecutive win for the company’s OLED technology. The TV was praised for its picture quality powered by the α (Alpha) 9 processor, which provides true-to-life images with incredibly rich colors, sharpness and depth for more realism and its class-leading artificial intelligence functionality. Emirates to add a fourth daily flight to Riyadh

Karachi / DUBAI, September 4, 2018 – Emirates will boost its services to Riyadh with the addition of a fourth daily flight to the Saudi capital from 1 September 2018. The addition of the fourth daily service will take the total number of weekly Emirates flights serving Riyadh to 28.

Adil Al Ghaith, Senior Vice President Commercial Operations, Gulf, Middle East & Iran said:  “Emirates’ expanded schedule to Riyadh will offer more travel options and choice for business travellers and families alike who are looking to visit Dubai. There are strong passenger flows between Riyadh and Dubai so enhancing our services makes business sense, and further underscores Riyadh’s importance within our global network.

The fourth daily flight will be serviced by the Boeing 777-300ER in a three class configuration.  Emirates flight EK813 will depart Dubai at 1500hrs arriving in Riyadh at 1550hrs. The return flight, EK814 will depart Riyadh at 1750hrs and will arrive in Dubai at 2040hrs.  The late afternoon departure offers an additional option for travellers, complementing the existing morning and evening flights.

Dubai’s attractiveness as a destination for Saudi travellers continues to be strong and in 2017 more than 1.5 million Saudis visited the city, according to data published by the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism).  Dubai offers an extensive array of leisure and family activities catering to every taste, in addition to hotels for all budgets. As a commercial and business hub, Dubai has become a platform for a myriad of businesses seeking exposure in emerging markets, and is also a springboard for investments coming into the region.  The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the UAE’s largest trading partner in the region, with non-oil trade reaching an estimated AED 880 billion (USD$24 billion) in 2017, according to UAE Federal Customs Authority data.

All cabins on the Boeing 777-300ER flying to Riyadh are equipped with Emirates’ award-winning ice entertainment system with over 3,500 channels of entertainment to choose from, including movies, television programmes, games, audio books and music from across the world, in addition to over 330 Arabic channels.

As with all Emirates flights, passengers on the Riyadh service will enjoy the extra generous Emirates baggage allowance of up to 35kg in Economy Class, 40 kg in Business Class and 50kg in First Class.

Emirates has been serving the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since 1989, and also operates to Jeddah, Dammam and Medinah Al Munawarah. Emirates currently serves Saudi Arabia with 84 flights a week, increasing to 91 per week from 1 September.

Emirates announces competitive fares around the globe

Karachi /Dubai -September 05, 2018:  Emirates has announced competitive fares across its global route network to inspire and encourage travellers to explore new destinations and revisit their favourite cities.

Customers have to book by 14 September 2018, for travel between 16 September 2018 and 15 March 2019. Passengers can enjoy competitive fares to more than 150 destinations, including Dubai as well as destinations across the Americas, Europe and the Far East. Orientation workshop in KP on KfW funded new programme for communities

The Livelihood Support and Promotion of Small Community Infrastructure Programme (LACIP) commenced Phase–II of its operations in Lakki Marwat, district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF), after completion of LACIP-I in 8 districts of KP with financial assistance of Federal Republic of Germany through KfW. PPAF is implementing LACIP phase-II in three districts of KP comprising Buner, Shangla and Lakki Marwat.

Social Action Bureau for Assistance in Welfare and Organizational Networking (SABAWON) with financial and technical support of PPAF will be implementing LACIP phase-II in the Lakki Marwat district, KP.SABAWON organised an introductory session in Peshawar to ensure smooth and timely execution of all operations of LACIP Phase–II. The programme was well attended, with senior officials from PPAF and SABAWON, including Muhammad Nadeem, Sr. General Manager, PPAF and Muhammad Tariq, Chief Executive Officer, SABAWON present at the occasion.

Focused on the value-driven social mobilisation of vulnerable communities and households, the programme aims at community and staff training, formation of village development plans and village council development plans. The project has been designed to support decentralization reforms in selected districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. This will contribute to greater political participation of villagers in decision making at the tehsil and village council level for infrastructure and livelihood improvement.

Mohammad Nadeem, Sr. General Manager, PPAF highlighted the salient features of the project and its core objective of strengthening local communities. ‘Vocational training and skill development through community organisations can be a significant factor in alleviating poverty’, he said. He also appreciated SABAWON for the development work one of the most deserving district, Lakki Marwat. He added that LACIP Phase-II will be implemented using innovative approaches and new methodologies.

Coca-Cola, WWF and NVP to conduct beach cleanup on International Coastal Clean-up Day

Karachi, September 14, 2018: Coca-Cola Pakistan is partnering with WWF-Pakistan and the National Volunteer Programme to conduct a beach clean-up activity at the Seaview Beach on Saturday, September 15, to commemorate the International Coastal Clean-up Day. This Day is observed throughout the world, and seeks to draw public attention to the urgent need for everyone to work towards stopping the increasing pollution of the world’s seas and oceans.

Over one hundred volunteers belonging to the National Volunteer Programme (NVP) will be participating in this activity, titled Beaches Without Waste. Both male and female volunteers will include university students, corporate executives, professionals, social activists and members of the digital community. The activity will clean up over 300,000 square meters of the public beach, with litter being collected in separate colour-coded bags for plastic waste, paper waste and other waste, to facilitate recycling as far as possible.

Speaking about the activity, Coca-Cola Pakistan General Manager, Rizwan U. Khan said, “This activity is a small but significant component of Coca-Cola’s global product packaging policy, ‘World Without Waste’, launched on January 19, 2018, under which the Company will help bring back a bottle or can for every single one that it sells by year 2030. The goal is to make recycling more accessible to achieve 100% collection and recycling by 2030, creating public awareness about what, how, and where to recycle, with continued focus on making all packaging 100% recyclable. Towards this end, the Company is actively partnering with local communities, NGOs, industry, the government, and with consumers, to try and ensure that packaging doesn’t end up where it doesn’t belong.”

The WWF and Coca-Cola representatives will give a detailed briefing to the volunteers at the start of the activity, following which the volunteers will be form into teams and carry out the clean-up activity in designated areas. At the end of the activity all the waste collected will be weighed and then taken away for recycling and proper disposal.

Khaadi donates Rupees 30 Million for the Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dam Fund as part of its Independence Day pledge

KARACHI: Khaadi, Pakistan’s premier fashion brand has donated Rupees 30 million for the Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dam Fund.

The announcement was made during a fund raising ceremony held in Karachi as part of Prime Minister, Imran Khan’s scheduled visit.


The donation amount was revealed following the August 14th pledge of Khaadi contributing its entire Independence Day proceeds to a national cause.


“We had said that have no right on the money earned on August 14th as it belongs to our homeland,” said Shamoon Sultan, Founder and CEO of Khaadi, “Today we donated 30 million rupees as a reflection of our commitment.”

Building on last year’s #MainBhiPakistanHoon tagline which celebrated all-inclusiveness across Pakistan, the brand focused this year’s Independence Day Campaign on giving back to Pakistan, thus changing the hashtag to #HumBhiPakistanHain. Through a nationwide poll that crowdsourced suggestions, customers had the autonomy to choose from 5 sectors vital for national development, namely; water, health, education, sanitation, and environment. Results revealed water to be a sector of utmost importance, given the alarming situation the country is facing, pertaining to this scarce resource.

Hutchison Ports Pakistan sets new vessel handling record for Karachi

Karachi, September 26, 2018 – Hutchison Ports Pakistan, the country’s first deep-water container terminal, has set a new vessel handling record for Karachi, having handled 5,862 moves in just over 27 hours while servicing the 8,652-TEU Hyundai Brave. During the vessel’s stay, the terminal achieved a vessel operating rate (VOR) of 212.16 container moves per hour and a gross crane rate (GCR) of 35 moves per hour.

Hutchison Ports Pakistan is the country’s most high-tech container port. This expanding deep-water facility is the only terminal in Pakistan that is capable of berthing the world’s largest vessels. The ultimate annual capacity will be around 3.2 million TEUs when the facility is fully completed.

The terminal operator also holds the current national vessel handling record, achieving 2,683 moves in just over 13 hours on the 8,562-TEU vessel Hyundai Courage/ 064E that berthed in September last year. During the vessel’s stay, the terminal achieved a VOR of 203.4 container moves per hour and a GCR of 32.3. Since starting test operations on 9 December 2016, Hutchison Ports Pakistan has already broken the national productivity record four times.
