Lahore, October 8, 2021: Fatima Fertilizer Company has organized Kisan Convention in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Food Security, Punjab Agriculture Department, and Pir Meher Ali Shah Barani Agriculture University Rawalpindi at the beginning of the Green Rabi campaign. The program was presided by Vice-Chancellor Barani Agriculture University Rawalpindi, Mr. Professor Dr. Qamar uz Zaman. Federal Minister for Food Security and Research, Mr. Syed Fakhar Imam and Punjab Agriculture Minister Hussain Jahanian Gardezi were the special guests.
Secretary Punjab Agriculture Department, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Dr. Anjum Ali, DG Punjab Agriculture Department, and growers with progressive mindsets from Rawalpindi and Abbottabad attended this program. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Qamar uz Zaman welcome the guests in his inaugural speech.
On this occasion, the Head of Technical Services, Fatima Fertilizer Company, Mr. Naseerullah Khan, appreciated the government initiatives for enhancing the wheat crop in the rainy areas and expressed gratitude to the administration of Barani Agriculture University in its cooperation for organizing this event. He informed the growers about the 10 percent crop increase by effectively using Sarsabz NP and CAN, instead of traditional fertilizers. He also shed light on the benefit of using Sarsabz fertilizers as per soil analysis.
Syed Hussain Jehanian Gardezi, Minister for Punjab Agriculture, informed the growers that a wide array of seeds and other necessary agricultural goods are being provided to growers on subsidized rates under the national plan of increasing wheat production this year. He further said that the cultivation of wheat is being started from Oct 20 in the rainy areas. The growers should only use the approved seeds from the Punjab Agriculture Department, so their crops not only be protected against diseases but their production per acre could also be increased, he added.
The federal and provincial ministers paid a tribute to Fatima Fertilizer Company for organizing this programme successfully, through which, the growers are updating their selves to modern production technology.
On this occasion, Federal Minister for Food Security and Research, Syed Fakhar Imam, informed the growers about the initiatives under Agricultural Emergency Programme of Prime Minister of Pakistan, and urged them to adopt modern agricultural technology and evolving conditions in the backdrop of climate changes.
Imam appreciated the role and initiatives of Fatima Group for increasing crop production and adaptation of modernization in the agriculture sector. Growers not only can increase per acre wheat crop by applying modern way of cultivation but they can also support the government to overcome the current wheat crisis, the minister insisted.
